It is undoubtedly obvious that leadership problems has been the bane behind the underdevelopment of many countries, and it is also responsible for the poor management of many organizations, industries, companies, societies or groups. Although, the fact that leadership has its own onus and challenges cannot be ruled out, however a great leader will definitely make the difference. The truth is that most of our contemporary leaders lacks the minimum requisite skills, qualities and values that makes a successful and efficient leadership, and there are also many loop holes in their leadership styles. There are some skills and qualities a leader must possess in order to be an effective leader. Strong values is one essential ingredient that makes effective leadership, without these strong values, that leader has no foundation, and the leadership will definitely crumble when challenges come. For a leader to succeed in leadership, he or she must inculcate these values and re-invigorate the weak institutions around him, in order to be effective. He must possess a strong character, the willingness to serve and the desire to make a positive impact. Leadership has to do with positive influence, it has to do with character and the overall desire of leaving a legacy of adding value to peoples life.
